Anna Loney has been making functional, artistic, architectural, and whimsical metal objects since 1992. Ancient tools and techniques, the basics of hammer and anvil still provide ample ground for her inquiry and the making of beautiful, thoughtful objects. Often associated with Celtic design, the circle pin is a timeless creation. Likely used as a garment fastener in a time before buttons, this pin may be worn solo or used to fasten a shawl, wrap or scarf. To wear, the pin stem is affixed to the fabric, the pin's pointed-end pulled up through the break in the circle, and the circluar portion twisted into place to hold fast the pin stem against the circle.

Image Description: A bright, faceted copper pin lays against a white background. The pin is an open circle, with slightly flared ends on the right-hand side., where there is a gap through which the pin's stem may be passed. In the photo, the stem, which is also copper, reaches across the length of the circle. Its pointed end lands on the circle just above the gap.
